Social Media Portraits

I've been working on a project for a new company that creates websites for small companies. I was requested to shoot portraits of the employees, but to do something creative.

I started with a simple headshot, but went for a lighting scheme that was a bit different for me. I used a beauty dish over the camera as the key light, and then filled with a ring flash. After getting a headshot of each victim  employee, I had them hold an iPad or cell phone up in front of their face. I then pasted in their portrait during post.

Overall, the portraits have been well received.

Modern Town Home

This year started quietly but quickly heated up. I've had quite a few interesting projects to photograph, including this modern town home for Jarrad Barnes of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates. Here are a few of my favorites.

Aerobic Photography

I was lucky enough to photograph a lot of extraordinary homes this past year, but this particular one stands out. The combination of architecture, finishes, furniture and art really caught my eye. It might be the most beautiful home I've ever been in, let alone photographed.

Originally I was told I would have 3-4 hours to photograph the very large home and grounds, but circumstances beyond my control cut that time in half. It was a track meet trying to get everything covered, but I was really happy what I was able to capture in a frantic couple of hours.

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

Fast Food

I recently completed a project for The Dallas Morning News that involved shooting interior photos of 19 El Fenix restaurants around the Dallas - Ft. Worth metroplex. I had one hour to unload, set up, shoot 8 different views and get out before each restaurant opened for lunch. Needless to say, it provided me with a new understanding of "Fast Food."

Here are a few of my favorites from the project.

Strait Shootin'

Strait Lane is known in the Dallas area for its beautiful homes and large lots. I recently photographed two homes on Strait Lane, both offering very unique photos. Here are a few of my favorites.

Never Judge a Book By Its Cover

Back in the spring I photographed a home for Jarrad Barnes of Dave Perry-Miller and Associates. Jarrad was pretty adamant that we shoot on a sunny day. When I pulled up, I was less than impressed with the house and a little confused as to why the weather was a factor.

Once I got past the front door, I understood. About a week after the home was listed it sold for quite a bit more than the asking price. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Room(s) With A View

I had the pleasure of photographing the developer's personal home at One Arts Plaza in downtown Dallas. The unit had never been lived in, and offers a breathtaking view of the arts district, downtown and uptown. It was really cool to watch how the late afternoon light changed the feel of the home as the day progressed.

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.
